Fertiliser cost exposure
Nitrogen fertiliser prices track global energy, currency and freight costs, exposing Sabah growers to volatility in external supply.

KBMB develops hydrogen and thermal technology concepts and bench-tests their components, focusing on local fertiliser production and more reliable post-harvest processing.
Sabah’s agriculture depends on reliable nitrogen fertiliser supply and dependable post-harvest processing. Both are vulnerable to costs and disruptions beyond farmers’ control.

Green Ammonia →Rain, inconsistent heat and high fuel costs can reduce drying quality and the value of agricultural products. More reliable processing protects both quality and value.
Mobile Drying →Testing in Sabah — with local crops, climate, grid conditions and logistics — produces evidence that studies conducted elsewhere cannot provide.

KBMB has prepared an early-stage proposal to evaluate a green ammonia pilot plant in Sabah. The concept uses renewable electricity to produce hydrogen from water, combines it with nitrogen from air, and synthesises ammonia for a future fertiliser pathway.
At pre-feasibility stage, the work ahead is to establish capacity, energy demand, site, investment, product configuration and schedule through feasibility and detailed engineering.
Explore the proposed pilotThe proposed pathway has five core stages. Feasibility and detailed engineering will establish the final plant configuration and downstream product route.
The Mobile Drying programme combines electrolysis, a hydrogen–oxygen burner, heat exchange and controlled airflow in a containerised concept for drying a range of agricultural products. Cocoa is the initial proposed pilot application.
Individual components have undergone internal testing. The next milestone is an integrated, instrumented unit, followed by documented product trials, beginning with cocoa, and independent validation.
